70 SUNREEF POWER HEADING SOUTH

FIRST POWER BOAT BY SUNREEF, THE 70 SUNREEF POWER, LAUNCHED AND HEADING FOR A ROUND-THE-WORLD TRIP.
- FIRST PHOTOS AVAILABLE-

A press release by SUNREEF
"The first 70 feet long motor catamaran was launched at Sunreef Yachts Shipyard in Gdansk in June 2008. The exterior was styled by the luxury yacht designer Denn Clifford, in collaboration with Sunreef constructors and designers.
Sunreef Yachts create custom made yachts, this first unit so-called Expedition version was conceived for demanding and adventurous clients and destinated to undergo a round-the-world trip. The emphasis thus is put on efficiency, practical technical solutions and long range autonomy.

EXPEDITION VERSION
The 70' Sunreef Power Expedition Version is a perfect yacht for a voyage around the world with a very distinctive feature, for instance, her fantastic range of 8000 nautical miles while cruising at 8 knots driven by twin Volvo Penta 370 HP engines.
The 70 Sunreef Power Expedition has, as a special option, a fuel capacity of 20000L, which enables the yacht to cross oceans with the cruising speed equalling 12 knots and the autonomy of 3000 miles. There are also some innovative changes made regarding the flybridge, where all furniture is easy to dismantle in order to create a playing area for children on this huge upper deck.

Sunreef's naval architects have created an elegant, performance orientated and safe yacht with fine entry bows. Sleek and high hulls will enhance fast cruising and easy wave piercing without requiring strong engine power. Built of epoxy using vacuum infusion technology and laid out according to owner's specification, with the optimized engines and propellers and very performant hulls, as well as solar panels and wind propelled alternators, the first power cat by Sunreef is able to navigate far with relatively low fuel consumption which makes her an environment friendly vessel.

Owned by the famous french sailor and winner of many international regattas, Laurent Bourgnon, the 70 Sunreef Power JUMBO is a purpose-built unit for a long, family voyage.

THE TRAVEL

After a wonderful experience of a 5 year travel round the world with his parents as a child, Laurent wishes to organize the same adventure for his own children in the period of one year.
As his children are still very young and not used to sailing and manoeuvring, Laurent decided to go for a power boat, a lot easier to handle by one person only. On board comfort was another criterion to accomplish by Sunreef in-house designers, for the yacht will be from now on their only home for at least a year, and Laurent's youngest son is only three years old and needs some special safety accomodations.

Once departed from Poland, Laurent will sail along the West coast of the old continent and will call at Cap Vert Islands. After crossing the Atlantic, they will arrive to Bresil and later to Argentina, to Patagonia precisely, where they will take part in a french travel program featuring travellers to this remote spot rich in blue icebergs, savage mountains and arctic air.
The next stop of their trip will be Easter Island and then French Polynesia where they are planning to stay for a longer time. Taking into account that Polynesia is as big as whole Europe, they are sure to discover many beautiful, heveanly places. Soon more details available."

NOAH 76' - EXPLORATION MOTOR CATAMARAN

The NOAH 76, another VPLP design, inspired by the exploration yacht concept, a really nice looking catamaran.

I am not a great fan of motor catamarans but I really like the design of the NOAH 76. Very elegant and not agressive, VPLP's website says it is designed according to the exploration yacht concept but to me it looks more like a neo classic design with exploration capabilities. It is very luminous. If you look at the pictures of the model you can see that the salon is surrounded by large windows and opens on the cockpit on one side. In the middle a loft style helicoidal stairs goes up to the pilot house and to a huge intertainement terasse. The NOAH 76 offers three en suite cabins and one crew next to the galley and crew mess.

The NOAH 76 is very economical with ocean crossing autonomy and a draft as little as 3.3 feet. The NOAH 76 came out of the brain of Jean Claude Borgel, owner of many cats including the very famous 138' DOUCE FRANCE.

A NOAH 88 is also available with an amazing owner suite.

You will be able to discover the NOAH's at the Cannes International Boat Show from the 10 to the 15 th of September.
Now I am waiting for a designer to come out with a luxury sailing catamaran with a neo-classic exterior and interior design. If you know of any let me know.
The pictures of the NOAH 76 model are from Nicolas Claris.

ONE FIFTY by SUNREEF

Sunreef Yachts introduces the biggest Sunreef yacht and the biggest luxury catamaran in the world to date.
A press release from Sunreef. Thanks Ewa.

26 June 2008,

Gdansk, Poland - With two superyachts, the Sunreef 102 Double Deck and the Sunreef 114, already under construction, Sunreef Yachts announces its latest design, the 150 foot ONE FIFTY by Sunreef coming in response to what the company sees as a continuing demand for the special combination of luxury and performance offered uniquely by a catamaran.

‘‘Over the years we’ve seen an increasing interest in bigger luxury cats and have been expanding our range incrementally to accomodate that,’’ said Nicolas Lapp, Sunreef vice-president, ‘‘The ONE FIFTY is now a quantum leap reflecting our customers enquries.”

Developed by Sunreef’s own in-house design team, the ONE FIFTY design is unique from other yachts in Sunreef fleet not only in size but also in appearance.

The futurist look of the ONE FIFTY as a result of meticulous research of the latest trends and styles in exterior design. Externally, the concept was for a modern, sweeping, sleek topside which blends into the curve of the hulls resulting in flat surfaces that accomodate solar panels as an alternative cheap and green source of energy or are covered by uncut, continously applied teak in keeping with the sleek lines.

The main deck features a spacious covered area spread over two levels spanning the entire beam (over 17 meters) with sloping deck leading up to the giant flybridge and navigation station just aft of the 55 metre carbon-fibre mast. The boom doubles as a crane for the rescue boat or for a large tender to be stowed out of sight, aft of the engine room.

In a break with tradition, the cockpit, which is sheltered by a sunroof, has been moved forward and equipped with sunbeds, a dining table seating twelve as well as comfortable informal seating on cushions and wicker armchairs. Despite the unique location, the cockpit will be accessible from both the flybridge via an open staircase and from salon/staterooms via two doors.

Below decks, twelve guests can be accomodated comfortably in six double staterooms located on the main deck forward and in the starboard hull. Crew quarters for eight are segregated in the opposite hull. A special lift will connect serve the galley on the upper deck and the crew quarters and store rooms below.

A large salon with a lounge bar and the dining room have panoramic views with a decor and layout that emphasises open space and natural light. A large TV screen of up to 80 inches can be mounted for both salon and lounge area. Inside the impressive mast is left exposed as a surprising aesthetic feature in the centre of the space.

To enable the crew to operate the yacht efficiently, access throughout the ONE FIFTY for crew and guests has been carefully both parties separated. Access for guests is aft via large glass doors while the crew enter directly from the hull by a passerelle.
