CODE [E]- THE ULTIMATE ECO-FRIENDLY LUXURY CATAMARAN

A joy for me again to introduce a new catamaran concept. This one is quite unique since it gathers all the proved solutions available on the market to make a yacht as eco-friendly as possible. It is born out of the drawing boards of Berret Racoupeau Yacht Design. You will find following some renderings and the press release I wrote for the project. I also have a detailed press kit should you be interested.

"La Rochelle, France, the 26 th of February

For the first time, Berret Racoupeau Yacht Design (BRYD) introduces Code[e], a 100-foot eco-friendly luxury catamaran.

Code [e] is an aesthetic, high-performance, state of the art luxury catamaran designed to cruise in symbiosis with the environment. Despite the economic crises, the project had a lot of success during the last Düsseldorf Boat Show as more and more people are concerned about environmental issues.

Olivier Racoupeau: Code [e] is about protecting, living with and learning from the environment. It matches our way of living and thinking with respect to our natural surroundings. We practice what we preach and believe that technology can help us protect the environment. Our team is constantly studying new ways of reducing yachts negative impacts while keeping a high level of comfort and performances for our clients.”.

Living with the environment:

o Sun : 40 m² of solar panels fully integrated to the structure

o Wind: 2 vertical retractable 1100 Watts silent wind turbines

o Water: 2 Hydro Electric generators will provide power while sailing.

Protecting the environment:

o A Hybrid propulsion system, silent and emission free, will be used with a reasonable 15 minutes autonomy while docking or anchoring for example.

o LED lighting divides by 10 the electric consumption compared to halogen bulbs

o The use of air conditioning is greatly reduced thanks to air intakes located below the platform and a clever distribution system throughout the yacht

o Fresh water from the rain will be captured on the roof, filtered and utilized to minimize the use of the water maker

o A hot water system, located on the top of the roof, will use the sun to top up the classical hot water production equipment.

Learning from the environment:

o An observation station is located on the platform, at mast food ahead of the salon and dining areas. This space will feature touch screen computers connected to the internet, books, revues and magazines about the sea, the wind, the sky and the earth. It will host comfortable couches to speak about environmental issues with guests and friends.

The Berret Racoupeau Yacht Design team has integrated the protection of the environment in each stage of design process. Code [e] is not just a concept; the team is finishing the full specifications and will soon start consulting shipyards to build this unique yacht.

AEROYACHT 110 SUPERCATAMARAN YACHTS - POWER AND BEAUTY

I am very happy to publish this post. Gregor Tarjan, Aeroyacht Founder, contacted me last year to let me know he was launching a supercatamaran project involving great naval architects Morelli and Melvin and to ask me if we could meet to talk about the project. We met in Paris during the boat show and Gregor decided to trust me with promoting the Aeroyacht 110. I am very proud to introduce this amazing yacht in the luxurycatamaran blog.

Long Island, New York (USA), February 16 th 2009.

The Aeroyacht® 110 - the world's fastest luxury sailing yacht

Designed by Gregor Tarjan in collaboration with renowned Multihull architects team Morrelli & Melvin Design and Engineering Inc, the Aeroyacht 110 is today’s most innovative super yacht.

Gregor Tarjan, founder of Aeroyacht International Ltd: “I have long admired Wally yachts. Seeing nothing comparable to them among luxury catamarans, I decided it was time for me to launch my own supercatamaran. I have created the Aeroyacht 110 from scratch following the motto: no compromise on speed and beauty. She is the first model of a sleek new range (a 95' and 125' are in the works), representing the ultimate high-performance, supremely styled world traveler.

I am privileged to be part of a most competent team including the famous naval architect Pete Melvin from Morrelli & Melvin Design and Engineering Inc, and my friend Vincent Duchatelet, a talented French interior designer. I recently went on a round-the-world trip to find the best shipyards that we have licensed to build this extraordinary yacht”.

Some of the Aeroyacht 110 comfort innovations:

o A two seats Icon A5 amphibian sports plane launched from a specially designed platform.

o A 32’ wide salon with all around water views

o A private loggia at mast foot away from paparazzi…

Some of the Aeroyacht 110 design innovations:

o “Hatch modules “for air intake and exhaust while keeping a totally flush deck.

o A low profile semi-fly bridge for vessel commands and aesthetics

o 450 square feet of integrated solar panels…

Some of the Aeroyacht 110 technical innovations:

o Reverse bows preventing down force and reducing pitching.
o A competition wing-rig designed by world specialist Paul "Whirly" Van Dyke
o Double chined hulls for better vessel stability and esthetics…

Recently, internationally renowned designer Ora-ïto was quoted as describing the Aeroyacht 110 as his favorite yacht.

CATAMARAN STYLED HOUSEBOAT IN DUBAI

This one is not sailing but I really like the concept of this floating loft on a catamaran structure.

Via homedesignfind.com & X-architects Daily

This 220 sqm house boat is located in the Dubai Marina in Dubai. This very modern, minimalist leisure house was designed by x-architect in colloboration with Leen Vandaele. As you can see in the pictures and renderings. The Lower deck hosts the bedrooms, bathrooms, a steering cabin and a deck terasse. The upper deck a kitchen, a salon and an informal dining area.

SUGGAR DADDY'S SPECIAL - GUNBOAT 66

I was strongly in need of some nice luxury catamaran pictures so I logged on to GUNBOAT's blog managed by Chandler Collins, Gunboat's Pr, and I found those beautiful pictures by Billy Black of their latest launches the gold gun SUGGAR DADDY A GUNBOAT 66. So lets go for it...

SUGGAR DADDY first sea trials took place in Cape Town off the GUNBOAT shipyard November the 20 th. Peter Johnstone, GUNBOAT fonder, describes the 3 days off sea trials in a nice piece of writing you will find in the Gunboat Blog. In the picture above SUGGAR DADDY is doing more than 26 knots and if you take a close look to the picture above you will notice that glasses and bottles are standing straight on the cockpit table.
SUGGAR DADDY plans to sail to the Caribbeans, then down the East Coast of South America and round cape horn. A nice journey ahead..
A typical view of a GUNBOAT salon which includes at mast food the helm station. Gunboats offer a real high level of interior finish in a whole carbone/nomex structure. You get the best of both world : luxury interior and great performance.

The master queen cabins with a huge hatch for a lot of sun and air when anchored.

Spectra is every where aboard, from the trampoline to the life-line, as well as carbon
A carbon longeron hosts the jib furler.
