22 October 2008

Sunreef Yachts, luxury catamarans designer, constructor and charter agency, is ready for the new boat show session 2008/09.

The shipyard is delighted to announce its participation at the Paris Boat Show held between 6-15 December 2008.

Sunreef Yachts, specialized in the construction of sailing catamarans, yet now launching a new power range introduces into the market the recently launched sailing yacht, the Sunreef 70 in both Classic and Japanese designs and its first ever-built motor yacht, the 70 SUNREEF POWER.

Sunreef Yachts is now ready to satisfy both sail and motor yacht markets and soon will enter the superyacht domain with its new superyachts, the Sunreef 102 DD and the Sunreef 114.

The coming year 2009 will certainly mark a new stage in the history of this dynamic and ambitious yard with the launching of the first superyacht, the Sunreef 102 DD, scheduled for Spring 2009.

70 SUNREEF POWER - JAMBO – FIRST POWER YACHT BY SUNREEF

Aboard the 70 Sunreef Power you will be enjoying exceptional living spaces of over 500 square feet, as well as giant fly-bridge – SUNREEF band's speciality. The fly-bridge features the main helm station, sun-bathing mattresses and dining table surrounded by comfortable seating. On the aft deck You will have enough room for jet ski. On the main deck a spacious, external cockpit of 320 square feet will let you relax while being pleasantly sheltered from the sun.
The first 70' Sunreef Power was ordered specifically for a family voyage around the world; therefore a very distinctive feature would be her fantastic range of 8000 nautical miles while sailing at 8 knots driven by twin Volvo Penta 370 HP engines. There were also some innovative changes made regarding the fly bridge, where, by special request of the client, all furniture is easy to dismantle in order to create a playing area for children on this huge upper deck.
As for interior, the furniture will be made of finnish birch and the upholstery of beige skai, which will create all together very light and harmonious venue. Modern design with some classic elements will be applied.
Inside the 70 Sunreef Power you will discover comfortable saloon of modern design that creates a harmonious atmosphere. The lounge has an elegant bar with a staircase leading to the galley and guest cabins within the hulls, and also to the second helm station located on the mezzanine floor. From here you access the owners’ cabin (owner version), or two guest cabins (semi-owner or charter version). These cabins are situated in the forward section of the catamaran and thus offer wonderful sea views.

SUNREEF 70 SEAZEN II – FIRST SAILING 70 FOOTER BY SUNREEF

Exceptionally spacious and wide, with new layout arrangement, this modern catamaran can easily accommodate 8 to 10 guests in 3 double cabins and 1 cabin with innovative four folding beds system - excellent solution for children.
The exterior outlines have been carefully worked out by Sunreef in-house design team in order to make the yacht look smooth and elegant. The boat is very aerodynamic and her external forms are highly streamlined. The outdoor playing space has been purpose-designed for charter activities. The yacht can easily accomodate a jacuzzi on the flybridge and has enough space to fit a jet ski on the aft. This unit in particular will have two dinghies, the smaller one of 2.8 m and a bigger one of 4.5m.
Especially requested by the Owner, the yacht will represent Japanese style, the essential aspect of which is the simplicity and minimalism. Frugal forms are kept in brown and cream with touches of muffled red. Visible structural geometry is achieved by the combination of the traditional layout of Tatami mats and decorative elements imitating indigenous Shoji screens and sliding doors. The overall scheme is accentuated by the horizontal line of arranging the furniture: low-level tables and bar, surrounded by separate sitting cushions placed in wooden frames, platform-like simple beds. Sparse and carefully selected decorations greatly replenish this posh, yet minimalistic interior.

SUNREEF 102 DOUBLE DECK – First superyacht by Sunreef

Designed by Sunreef’s inhouse design team the sloop-rigged yacht is the largest catamaran manufactured by Sunreef Shipyard and will be one of the few in the world of that size.
The yacht’s interior design will be fully customised in close cooperation between the european owner and the Sunreef team who has requested that she be ‘‘cosy, comfortable and homey’’, dominated by contrasting dark and light wenge and anegre wood and a classic Sunreef touch.
The interior style of Sunreef 102 will mostly modern with some classic elements of decoration. There are two types of wood used for the cabines – the dark WENGE wood and the light ANEGRE. This blend of colours creates a strong contrast dark/light and allows the Sunreef Design Team to highlight the geometric composition of the furnitures. Trapezoid, square and cube forms are easily reckognizable in the main outlines (furniture, wall shapes, windows, doors, etc.) and in many decoration details such us handles, lamps, table legs, etc.
The original upholstery of Skai Elitis will guarantee the effect of chests board and will certainly be an interesting feature on board.
Generally, beside the wenge and anegre wood, the different types of skai will be applied on the walls and ceiling, all in beige, ivory and cream colours which will create the ambience of harmony and balance of this carefully designed interiors. The main lighting system will consist of a set of fitted on each side halogens reflecting from matt surfaces and only few of them will be installed directly on the ceiling.
The innovative element will certainly be a double deck, the original Sunreef concept, ensuring much more comfort and space for the guests.

M'80 by Christophe BARREAU & Frédéric NEUMAN

This is a new project of a smart, fast and easy to sail 80 footer by Christophe Barrault, the historical designer of the CATANA range, and his partner Frédéric Neuman. Christophe Barreau has designed many catamarans including the CATANA range since the beggining. He is an experienced sailor having sailed extensively on his own designs and is the first one to cross the 80 th parallel on a cruising catamaran. All his designs are easy to sail with a small crew thanks to their self-taking jib and feature retractable daggerboards reducing the draft from 3,5 m to 1,7m.

Jean Yves Carteret from Linea Concept has designed 3 different interior layouts all for six guest in independant suites with a crew of 3.

SIG 45 - She is sailing

I received a great message this morning from Hugo Le Breton, they have just launched the SIG 45 and guess what she looks really great.

"Le Breton Yachts Update October 2008

Dear all
September and October have been busy and productive, so we decided to send a short update in advance of the next Newsletter. The SIG45 has been launched, the mast and sails are rigged, and she is ready to go!
The transport
The transport from the yard to the sea was a journey of about 7km. Tuscany served up a beautiful day for the trip. The boat went into the water the next day, once all the final preparations had been completed. The pictures tell the story. For more images, please visit the gallery on our website.
The launch
The launch was uneventful, but of course an exciting day for the team. No leaks, she floats on her lines and looks stunning.
Getting the boat up to speed
Over the next weeks, the team will be getting the boat up to speed. A first, very gentle, but enjoyable sail has been completed in 5 knots of wind, but we look forward to reporting on the progress of the boat, as we start exploring her potential in stronger winds with bigger sails.
A full newsletter will follow soon.
Hugo Le Breton"

GUNBOAT 90 - TWO ON ORDER

I just received this press release from Chandler Collins, GUNBOAT's PR and Marketing manager about the amazing GUNBOAT. As I wrote before GUNBOAT are my favorite "smaller size catamaran". I look forward to see this larger one on the water.

"G U N B O A T 9 0
All New Series

Gunboat announces their groundbreaking GUNBOAT 90 series that combines both serious performance with cruising amenities that are unprecedented. Two of these gorgeous high performance world cruisers are already under contract.

The GUNBOAT 90 offers spaces and luxury that will embarrass most 180 ft keelboats. Quite simply, the GUNBOAT 90 will redefine sailing performance amongst the mega yacht fraternity. Why shouldn’t a mega-yacht sail at 20 knots or more most of the time? While the GUNBOAT 90 is exceptionally large, her spaces have been used in a restrained manner. Four luxurious en suite staterooms are on par with five star hotel rooms in the city. Crew quarters for 4 are in the bows. The hulls are a composite construction of vacuum-bagged, epoxy foam sandwich and Aramid Honey-comb Nomex with carbon fiber inner skins & Kevlar outer skins for impact resistance. All carbon spars and only the most high-tech equipment, this series is dedicated to luxury and speed.

The first GUNBOAT 90 will be based in St. John Virgin Islands with aims to sail around the world. Keep an eye out for this remarkable vessel, but with the ability to accomplish 400+ mile days, it may only be a quick peek!

EXCLUSIVE 76 - I HAD A DREAM of a perfect cruising catamaran Georges Benarroch

I spent the day yesterday in Les Sables d'Olonnes (they are getting ready for the Vendée Globe) with Georges Benarroch the brain behind the EXCLUSIVE 76. Georges is obsessed by details and perfection and it really shows in the EXCLUSIVE 76 to be launched in February 2009.

Designed by the Gilles Ollier's Design Team (designer of maxi catamaran Orange and famous cruising cat MAGIC CAT), buit by King Cat/VIP shipyard the specialist of the infusion process in France and with an interior Design by famous Yacht Designer Jean Pierre Fantini, the Exclusive is really well born. The most impressive to me was that Georges Benarroch before starting the project has chartered almost all the big cats around. He really loves chartering cats (who 's going to blame it). His obsession : he wants the Exclusive 76 to be the best cat of her size. Since he really likes confort here are a few details with images (thanks for the CD) that have been designed in the Exclusive 76.

Below : the guest cabins are modular you can convert the king size beds into two singles. The small table is on the side of the bed on the first image and in the middle on the second one.

Below : The cockpit hosts 3 tables, two small on one side and a large one on the other. This is so people can do their own things when they need to. To eat, you can put the two small tables together and with chairs around them you can seat up to 8 around one and 6 around the other and still have room to walk through. If you noticed there are small compartments in front of the image where you can put you mobile phone, cigarettes, keys.. Georges has lost to many phones at sea.

Below : The table rises into a dining table and lowers into a salon table. You can remove all the chairs to have a large place for a party. At sea the chairs have a special system to be fixed to the floor. The TV also raises and lower. In the Exlusive 76 all the furniture which can be in your way can be folded or removed.

Below. Crew quarters, galley are located forward and completely separeted from the guest. The skipper and crew cabins have been built to the same quality standards as the rest of the boat.

By the way, the Exclusive will also be a fast boat.

MILES AND DREAMS AROUND THE WORLD ABOARD A SUNREEF 62 OR SUNREEF 97

Discover the Miles and Dreams project. A 5 legs around the world tour aboard MANUAI (SUNREEF 62) or BLU GURU (SUNREEF 70). I think this really is a great idea.

The two catamarans will leave Barcelona after the Boat Show on November 2009.

The trip is divided in five legs, each between 3 to 4 months in duration, which allow you to choose the adventure that better adjusts your needs. The yachts will be crewed by professionnals with lots of experience in sailing. The project was iniated by Javier Visiers, a naval architect, a keen sailors who raced many professional race including 3 Whitbread and circumnavigated aboard a aboard a lagoon 47. Carlos Peris, an experienced sailor with over 10 transatlantic crossings and more than 20 years working as a professional sailor, is the co-founder of the project.
As written in the web site "Miles and Dreams around the world will allow people to enjoy to take part in an adventure that usually requires a much higher investment, and previous sailing experience to make it truly enjoyable and “unforgettable”. You can rent a cabin for the whole circumnavigation or just for a specific leg or legs your are interested in. Both boats will always sail together to ensure all crewmembers and participants a high level of safety and social interaction".

CATANA NEW WEB SITE AND CATANA 92

The french catamaran builder CATANA has just launched its new website and introduces the largest CATANA yet the CATANA 92.

This is the new version of the CATANA website, which is kind of sad for me since I was responsible many years ago of the older version. This is good it needed to be renewed. It is very light colored and easy to browse. There is a new section called "cruising club" in which you can find a new access for the CATANA owners. In the yacht section you will find a new yacht the CATANA 92 which is the new name for the previous catana custom, always designed by Christophe Barreau, the historic designer. The first one ORION was launched earlier this year and left the shipyard in September. We can finally see some pictures of her and a video of the sea trials, it is very impressive. ORION was built for an experience CATANA owner for a round the world journey. The interior is huge (200 m²) and close wind the CATANA 92 can carry no less than 500 m² of sails. It is to be noticed that the moulds of the CATANA 92 are adjustable in size to built a smaller or a larger CATANA. CATANA is renewing its complete range with new and more modern designs.

HELP SOMEBODY STOLE MY BLOG

I don't know if any one of you can help me out but I just did some research on the net and found a blog named LUXURY YACHT 2008 with all the posts I wrote for more than a year without changing a single world or anything and lots of advertising. This is not my blog it is just a copy. I guess the guy who did that is reading the message. I don't you know how you did that but thisis not very nice of you.

ALCYON 125 - A NEW DESIGN BY PAUL RENAUD

Last year, I introduced the ALCYON 120, an elegant design by Paul Renaud. Paul just sent me this new design the ALCYON 125, a little bit longer but really innovative at deck and flybridge level.

I think this design is very much inspired by latest motor yachts trends. By that I mean it offers a lots of space and confort on the flybridge and a huge salon protected by slidding windows. This is very new for a catamaran since most of the time designers prefer to keep an open cockpit. On the flybridge you will find relaxing mattresses and a dining table protected from the wind by a large window which should enable the guests to enjoy eating while sailing. The helm stations are located on both sides, away from the guests and protected from the sun. Dinghy and toys are located at flybridge level with a crane to launch. Right below you will see a platform with windows to look at the sea.

A jacuzzi is at mast food with on both relaxing matresses while anchored.
The interior can be designed according to the need of the owner as private or charter version.

Paul Renaud is an expert in 3ds. He has worked for many industries.

The same in a different color, this show the importance of hull colour for a yacht.

BLUBLAY 92 - PURE BEAUTY

With the BLUBAY 92, and the BLUBAY 95 soon to be launched, Yachts Industries (also builder of the YAPLUKA range) based in Caen (France) is really acquiring the image of a mega catamaran builder with top quality production.
. This first BLUBAY 92 (a second for private use only is in production to be launched soon) is optimized for charter. It features four double suites for 8 guests and accomadations for a crew of 3 all with independent access to the salon. The salon/deck platform is huge and very confortable as you can see on the pictures. The interior design by Pierre Frutschi by was optimized for charter use and ease of circulation for guests and crew. The design is contemporary mixing dark floors with white furniture and light woods. The effect is relaxing. There is also a nice in house pilot house with a great view on the sea at mast foot. The flybridges hosts a good size jacuzzi and relaxing matresses.
Built in Sealium, a very light yet strong Aluminium, it should be quite fast at sea. During sea trials at the shipyard a speed of 14 knots was achieved under sails with force 3 winds.
I am sure this BLUBAY will have a lot of success in charter.
