VAN PETEGHEM AND LAURIOT PREVOT

They are the world most famous multihulls designers. I was very impressed by their website. Their design office is made up of twelve qualified architects in two offices Vannes and Paris. The team become famous by designing most of the winning racing multihulls in the World such as Pierre Premier (which became Lakota for Steve Fosset), Fleury Michon XI, the Hydropter, the Trimarans for the movie Waterworld, and lately Groupama II, for the most famous skipper from Eric Tabarly, to Frank Cammas to name but just a few.... As they say "from racing to cruisings"; they have used their racing experiences to design many of the Lagoon cruising catamarans for beneteau, and also custom projects for luxury catamaran above 100 feet. Right now Gemeni, a 145 feet catamaran is being built in aluminium. Aboard this yacht 12 guests can dine in the main dining room, in the cockpit or on the flybridge next to the jacuzzi and sunbathing area. Postprandial relaxation can take place in the main salon or the TV den. On the website you will also find the drawings for the Sailor 164 which can accomodate 12 guests and 10 crew. They have also designed Douce France (138’) the largest catamaran ever built so far. I recommend to check their website, there are many more projects and catamarans launched to discover.

CIM 116 - MAXI CATAMARAN

I have found this maxi catamaran project on the CIM shipyard website. This shipyard has built workboats and maxi yacths for 20 years. This unitis their first catamaran project. They asked the Berret Racoupeau team to take care of the design. The emphasis has been put on the fluidity of mouvement on the deck and in the salon. The hulls are dedicated to the guest for their tranquility. You will find more drawing of this project on the CIM shipyard website.

SUN TENAREZE - JFA

Sun Tenareze is a 86 feet catamaran built by the JFA shipyard in France. It was built for an owner who wished to handle his yacht with a minimum crew. The hulls and superstructures are made of glass/carbon composite. The architects are Joubert Nivelt. The interior is made out of mahogany and white surfaces for an easy maintenance. The interior looks unique for a yachting catamaran. It feels as if you were in a classical monohulls. The galley looks huge in the pictures you can find on the website. I really like the transom design. The boat looks great under sail.

GUAPA - SUNREEF 62

Sunreef has just launched a new 62 footer "GUAPA". This Sunreef is very innovative regarding her interior design. She mixes different modern colors (garish emerald green, strong Wenge and smooth Maplewood) with unusal furniture and construction material. The mix of Wenge and Maplewood, with glass and steel is a success as you can see on the picture. Outside the flybridge is hudge for a catamaran of that size, it contains all the navigation equipment with a U-shaped sofa, sunbathed matresses and a teak table.
