CHE THE NEW SUNREEF 114 CHRISTENED

"CHE" is the younger brother of the first SUNREEF catamaran ever built also named "CHE". The difference being that the new "CHE" is 114 feet long compared to 70 feet. It is much bigger as you can see in the pictures. "CHE" was christened over a big party with 200 guest at the yard in Poland.

Quite amazing as you can see in the pictures on the gallery, the size of the owner suite, of the galley, of the salon and the cockpit is really impressive. I was afraid "CHE" might look heavy in the water by it looks sleek and the spinnaker is great. A strange name and a strange logo for a multimillion euro yacht.

"CHE" is now heading to the med. Francis and Nicolas Lapp of building large yacht is now becoming true. Congratulations.

SUNREEF 62 - 25 UNITS LAUNCHED - 5 IN BUILT

This blog starts to look like SUNREEF blog but I have a hard time finding news about other yards or projects. Bad news are easy to find but this is not the purpose of the blog. I guess I will have to be more creative in the coming posts.

The story of the Sunreef 62 is in fact a story of Father and Son who dreamed of creating a new and very unique product for the yachting market.

The idea was simple: build a large, fast and exclusive twin-hulled yacht that could be fully customised to clients’ wishes.

So in 2000 Francis and Nicolas Lapp founded Sunreef Yachts from scratch and began building a team of specialists in naval architecture, design, engineering and construction in the historic shipyard of Gdansk, Poland made famous by Lech Walesa and Solidarity.

And less than two years later they launched the Sunreef 74, CHE.

Following on the success of CHE, Sunreef's in-house design department then set to work to create a somewhat smaller but versatile yacht with a modern exterior, streamlined hulls generous deck space and an extremely spacious fly-bridge which would become the Sunreef 62.

And now in just four years, the Sunreef 62 has become Sunreef’s most popular model with 30 units sold to date and is still the only 60-foot catamaran in the world with such a wide choice of fit-outs, general arrangements and equipment.

To date, 25 Sunreef 62’s have been launched with another 5 sold and under construction. The yacht is perfect for both private owners and charter fleet operators and it’s easy to see why.

Her stability and safety with no compromise in sailing performance combines with technological innovation below decks and topside made unique by a fly-bridge complete with centralized controls as well as impressive deck space and possibility of customized finish, all for a very competitive price.

Layouts available on a Sunreef 62 range from self-explanatory ”owner” and ”semi-owner” to ”charter” all complimented with the appropriate navigational equipment as selected by the buyer.

On the inside, each Sunreef 62 is unique with motifs ranging from classic, modern/minimalist, to striking surreal Fauvism. Classic design features high gloss finish, rounded shapes and natural light colours with a classic saloon layout. Modern design results in minimalist pure shapes, strong contrasting colours and a mat finish. Fauvist design combines flashy and colourful interiors, ultra-modern accessories with mixed gloss and mat surface.

And the Sunreef 62 continues to evolve. The aft platform is a perfect place for stowing he tender which can be launched in seconds using the Sunreef’s ingenious hidden davits. In addition, the platform can be used for swimming, fishing or just enjoying the sea along but also provides stowage for things like diving equipment and water toys.

Recognizing their responsibility to the environment, Sunreef has also introduced the environmentally-friendly construction technique Infusion and offers solar panels, wind and water generators, non-toxic anti-fouling, ever more energy-efficient hulls and soon, hybrid electrical engines.
Not surprisingly, a Sunreef 62 can also be found in some very interesting places around the world. AL MAISAN is in Doha, Qatar and TRIGGER operates around the Seychelles. The very first Sunreef 62, MISSION, launched in 2003, is now based in Barcelona as a successful charter boat participating in regattas, ocean races and boat shows. Other Sunreef 62’s, including MISTER T, CAPOLINO FALALUNA, DIAMOND GIRL II, ANASSA, ANASSA II, ZAHORA, CATSY, MAUNI, ARGONAUTA V, TAHAA II and MOONSTONE have joined Sunreef's in-house charter fleet around the world.

Many private Sunreef catamarans are on round-the-world voyages. BLAZE II has just crossed the Panama Canal bound for French Polynesia and New Zealand. CHARLOTTE will explore the Caribbean and Central America before setting off for the Far East and HERENUI has just sailed along North Africa and, after the Mediterranean, will then be heading west to the Caribbean.

Feedback from owners confirms that Sunreef 62 is a perfect option for long-distance ocean voyaging with a crew of only two or comfortably accommodating an entire family thanks to the location of the helm station. With controls for all of the necessary electrical and hydraulic systems on the flying bridge, sailing with just one person on watch is easy.

Having achieved a confirmed speed of 22 knots, sailing a Sunreef 62 can also be lively and satisfying as she points up to 30 degrees (apparent), even in choppy seas.

And thanks to her shallow draft, she can easily anchor in the most picturesque bays where deeper draft yachts simply cannot and, of course, shallower draft means less fuel consumption.

Since the first Sunreef 62 set sail, satisfied owners and crew have been collecting unforgettable experiences. So as an added service to Sunreef 62 owners around the World, Sunreef will soon announce a Sunreef owners’ club where owners can exchange tips, thoughts and experiences via a website, meetings, social events and regattas.

SUNREEF YACHTS RELEASES YEARLY FINANCIAL RESULTS 2009

The Polish marine success story, Sunreef Yachts, www.sunreef-yachts.com, based in Gdansk begins its eleventh year of trading with positive historical results and expectations for continued strong growth as it builds on its reputatation as the global leader in luxury catamarans, both power and sail.

Sunreef was established in 1998 as a charter company and then began producing yachts in 2000 in a Gdansk shipyard. The company delivered its first catamaran, the Sunreef 74 CHE, two years later in 2002 and since has seen sales and operating profit grow consistently along with its range of products and services.

Sunreef’s in-house charter agency, Sunreef Yachts Charter www.sunreef-charter.com, now has more than 1000 yachts in its fleet as its own 2008 net sales rose through €1.8 million with a 30 per cent increase expected in 2009.

‘‘Our success to date comes from our focus on innovation and by extending the range of yachts we produce,” says Nicolas Lapp, Sunreef's vice president, ‘‘In 2008 we have launched two new yacht models, 70 Sunreef Power and Sunreef 70 Sailing. This year, we will launch our first superyacht Sunreef 102 Double Deck. At the same time, we are now designing new mega catamarans projects over 100 feet”.

Sunreef Yachts is actually comprised of three business units: building – Sunreef Yachts, chartering – Sunreef Yachts Charter and Yacht Management employing 450 worksmen and employees, the workforce keep constantly growing at this time. From 2007 to 2008 Sunreef’s net income from production and services increased 40% from €19,6 million to €27,6 million with expectations for 2009 that this will continue to €33,6 million as annual deliveries pass 12 with 18 scheduled for 2009.

Despite a challenging labour market in Poland, this accelerating production rate was achieved by optimising production techniques which for example reduced production time for Sunreef’s most popular model, the Sunreef 62, from 9 to 4 months.

Sunreef is also increasing overall production capacity with the acquision of 16 hectares land in nearby Gdańsk Wiślinka for the construction of a new 24,000 square metre purpose-built manufacturing facilities with possible enlargement due for completion and occupancy in 2010. This facility will enable Sunreef to build yachts up to 50 meters in length.

Management’s forecast for the coming years is likewise very promising, if slightly more modest taking into account the uncertain world financial situation. Sunreef’s financial plan for 2009 budgets for a 25per cent growth in sales on 2008.

To provide its clients with a full range of support services, Sunreef has also established its after-sales service, refit and Brokerage Division which now has more than 800 yachts in its data base.

‘‘Our goal for the future is quite simply to maintain our position as the world’s largest manufacturer of large and luxury catamarans from 60 to 150 feet,” concluded Lapp.

SUNREEF YACHTS PARTICIPATES TO THE PARIS BOAT SHOW 2008 AND ANNOUNCES NOVELTIES FOR 2009

Sunreef Yachts, luxury catamarans designer, constructor and charter agency, is ready for the new boat show session 2008/09.

The shipyard is delighted to announce its participation at the Paris Boat Show held between 6-15 December 2008.

Sunreef Yachts, specialized in the construction of sailing catamarans, yet now launching a new power range introduces into the market the recently launched sailing yacht, the Sunreef 70 in both Classic and Japanese designs and its first ever-built motor yacht, the 70 SUNREEF POWER.

Sunreef Yachts is now ready to satisfy both sail and motor yacht markets and soon will enter the superyacht domain with its new superyachts, the Sunreef 102 DD and the Sunreef 114.

The coming year 2009 will certainly mark a new stage in the history of this dynamic and ambitious yard with the launching of the first superyacht, the Sunreef 102 DD, scheduled for Spring 2009.

70 SUNREEF POWER - JAMBO – FIRST POWER YACHT BY SUNREEF

Aboard the 70 Sunreef Power you will be enjoying exceptional living spaces of over 500 square feet, as well as giant fly-bridge – SUNREEF band's speciality. The fly-bridge features the main helm station, sun-bathing mattresses and dining table surrounded by comfortable seating. On the aft deck You will have enough room for jet ski. On the main deck a spacious, external cockpit of 320 square feet will let you relax while being pleasantly sheltered from the sun.
The first 70' Sunreef Power was ordered specifically for a family voyage around the world; therefore a very distinctive feature would be her fantastic range of 8000 nautical miles while sailing at 8 knots driven by twin Volvo Penta 370 HP engines. There were also some innovative changes made regarding the fly bridge, where, by special request of the client, all furniture is easy to dismantle in order to create a playing area for children on this huge upper deck.
As for interior, the furniture will be made of finnish birch and the upholstery of beige skai, which will create all together very light and harmonious venue. Modern design with some classic elements will be applied.
Inside the 70 Sunreef Power you will discover comfortable saloon of modern design that creates a harmonious atmosphere. The lounge has an elegant bar with a staircase leading to the galley and guest cabins within the hulls, and also to the second helm station located on the mezzanine floor. From here you access the owners’ cabin (owner version), or two guest cabins (semi-owner or charter version). These cabins are situated in the forward section of the catamaran and thus offer wonderful sea views.

SUNREEF 70 SEAZEN II – FIRST SAILING 70 FOOTER BY SUNREEF

Exceptionally spacious and wide, with new layout arrangement, this modern catamaran can easily accommodate 8 to 10 guests in 3 double cabins and 1 cabin with innovative four folding beds system - excellent solution for children.
The exterior outlines have been carefully worked out by Sunreef in-house design team in order to make the yacht look smooth and elegant. The boat is very aerodynamic and her external forms are highly streamlined. The outdoor playing space has been purpose-designed for charter activities. The yacht can easily accomodate a jacuzzi on the flybridge and has enough space to fit a jet ski on the aft. This unit in particular will have two dinghies, the smaller one of 2.8 m and a bigger one of 4.5m.
Especially requested by the Owner, the yacht will represent Japanese style, the essential aspect of which is the simplicity and minimalism. Frugal forms are kept in brown and cream with touches of muffled red. Visible structural geometry is achieved by the combination of the traditional layout of Tatami mats and decorative elements imitating indigenous Shoji screens and sliding doors. The overall scheme is accentuated by the horizontal line of arranging the furniture: low-level tables and bar, surrounded by separate sitting cushions placed in wooden frames, platform-like simple beds. Sparse and carefully selected decorations greatly replenish this posh, yet minimalistic interior.

SUNREEF 102 DOUBLE DECK – First superyacht by Sunreef

Designed by Sunreef’s inhouse design team the sloop-rigged yacht is the largest catamaran manufactured by Sunreef Shipyard and will be one of the few in the world of that size.
The yacht’s interior design will be fully customised in close cooperation between the european owner and the Sunreef team who has requested that she be ‘‘cosy, comfortable and homey’’, dominated by contrasting dark and light wenge and anegre wood and a classic Sunreef touch.
The interior style of Sunreef 102 will mostly modern with some classic elements of decoration. There are two types of wood used for the cabines – the dark WENGE wood and the light ANEGRE. This blend of colours creates a strong contrast dark/light and allows the Sunreef Design Team to highlight the geometric composition of the furnitures. Trapezoid, square and cube forms are easily reckognizable in the main outlines (furniture, wall shapes, windows, doors, etc.) and in many decoration details such us handles, lamps, table legs, etc.
The original upholstery of Skai Elitis will guarantee the effect of chests board and will certainly be an interesting feature on board.
Generally, beside the wenge and anegre wood, the different types of skai will be applied on the walls and ceiling, all in beige, ivory and cream colours which will create the ambience of harmony and balance of this carefully designed interiors. The main lighting system will consist of a set of fitted on each side halogens reflecting from matt surfaces and only few of them will be installed directly on the ceiling.
The innovative element will certainly be a double deck, the original Sunreef concept, ensuring much more comfort and space for the guests.

"The first 70 feet long motor catamaran was launched at Sunreef Yachts Shipyard in Gdansk in June 2008. The exterior was styled by the luxury yacht designer Denn Clifford, in collaboration with Sunreef constructors and designers.
Sunreef Yachts create custom made yachts, this first unit so-called Expedition version was conceived for demanding and adventurous clients and destinated to undergo a round-the-world trip. The emphasis thus is put on efficiency, practical technical solutions and long range autonomy.

EXPEDITION VERSION
The 70' Sunreef Power Expedition Version is a perfect yacht for a voyage around the world with a very distinctive feature, for instance, her fantastic range of 8000 nautical miles while cruising at 8 knots driven by twin Volvo Penta 370 HP engines.
The 70 Sunreef Power Expedition has, as a special option, a fuel capacity of 20000L, which enables the yacht to cross oceans with the cruising speed equalling 12 knots and the autonomy of 3000 miles. There are also some innovative changes made regarding the flybridge, where all furniture is easy to dismantle in order to create a playing area for children on this huge upper deck.

Sunreef's naval architects have created an elegant, performance orientated and safe yacht with fine entry bows. Sleek and high hulls will enhance fast cruising and easy wave piercing without requiring strong engine power. Built of epoxy using vacuum infusion technology and laid out according to owner's specification, with the optimized engines and propellers and very performant hulls, as well as solar panels and wind propelled alternators, the first power cat by Sunreef is able to navigate far with relatively low fuel consumption which makes her an environment friendly vessel.

Owned by the famous french sailor and winner of many international regattas, Laurent Bourgnon, the 70 Sunreef Power JUMBO is a purpose-built unit for a long, family voyage.

THE TRAVEL

After a wonderful experience of a 5 year travel round the world with his parents as a child, Laurent wishes to organize the same adventure for his own children in the period of one year.
As his children are still very young and not used to sailing and manoeuvring, Laurent decided to go for a power boat, a lot easier to handle by one person only. On board comfort was another criterion to accomplish by Sunreef in-house designers, for the yacht will be from now on their only home for at least a year, and Laurent's youngest son is only three years old and needs some special safety accomodations.

Once departed from Poland, Laurent will sail along the West coast of the old continent and will call at Cap Vert Islands. After crossing the Atlantic, they will arrive to Bresil and later to Argentina, to Patagonia precisely, where they will take part in a french travel program featuring travellers to this remote spot rich in blue icebergs, savage mountains and arctic air.
The next stop of their trip will be Easter Island and then French Polynesia where they are planning to stay for a longer time. Taking into account that Polynesia is as big as whole Europe, they are sure to discover many beautiful, heveanly places. Soon more details available."

SUNREEF 102 DD - TAKING SHAPE

Sunreef 102 Double Deck takes shape!

The first superyacht designed by Sunreef Yachts is currenly under construction in the shipyard. At this time, all bulkheads and frames previously set up are being welded to main deck superstructure, which imposing size is clearly visible at the picture. A for the hulls, they are being built upside down on technological foundation, thus as soon as the frames are welded, the prefabricated shell plates will be fixed up. The construction shall be completed by the Summer 09.

SUNREEF 106 - THE SECOND CUSTOM MADE SUPERSAILING CATAMARAN ORDERED

Great news from Ewa Stachurska, SUNREEF PR manager, a second above 100 foot SUNREEF has just been ordered : the SUNREEF 106.

I really like the exterior, a proof that length really matters in a catamaran design.

With this order, Sunreef Yachts is the first and only shipyard in the world to have under construction two multihulls over 100 feet.

"This 106 footer is a fast, high performance and luxurious catamaran. Built in Aluminium, it is based on the SUNREEF 100 but extended for a
European client. The interior design is the result of a close cooperation
between the Sunreef in-house design team and the owner.

The Modern Style by Sunreef chosen for this particular boat consists of brightly-coloured upholstery, bamboo veener applied to solid wood furniture, teak deck - both below decks and topside, glass table tops and furniture elements, a segregated saloon and galley with large panoramic windows in the saloon and cabins enhancing an impression of spaciousness and light.

Another interesting feature is the 'island' separating the galley and saloon. This cabinet is accessible from both sides and houses equipment including microwave, electric oven and a dishwasher for the galley as well as an impressive entertainment system with 40 inches LCD television, DVD player, Hi-Fi system on the saloon side.

The owner’s suit will be especially luxurious using the finest
materials combined with a spacious atmosphere."

SUNREEF 102 DOUBLE DECK

I just received this news from Ewa Stachurska, the PR manager at SUNREEF shipyard in Gdansk, Poland. The shipyard has signed a contract with a client from Switzerland to build the first SUNREEF 102 double deck. ‘‘We are very excited by the interest in this model, it’s certainly the only double deck, an innovative Sunreef idea,’’ says Nicolas Lapp, the Vice President of Sunreef, ‘‘It is really quite revolutionary in the superyacht world.’. This prestigious unit will be launched beggining 2009 and will be one of the largest sailing catamaran at that time. There is actually a real trend toward bigger and bigger mega catamarans above 100 feet. Actually sailing are DOUCE FRANCE and LADY BARBARETTA, and in built are the NAHEMA 120 , the GEMINI 145 (Derektor shipyard) and the HH 100 (Alumarine). Built in aluminium, the SUNREEF 102 will be the first with a Double Deck.
