The Taino 24 was designed by Gilles Vaton and built by the CATANA group. It was created both for private and luxury charter use. It offers a huge deck salon of nearly 40 m². It is now for sale at a price of  2 200 000 Euros.

Marseilles, May 16th 2008 – The NAHEMA 120’s interior is taking shape

The interior modules aligned in the shipyard

While vacuum-bagging tests are being conducted on the moulds of the NAHEMA 120 (the largest composite catamaran in built at the moment), the interior modules are well underway.

The interior, designed by Franck Darnet Design, is an important key to the success of the NAHEMA range. The contemporary yet warm design has attracted a lot of attention from the public all through the most recent International Boat Shows. Franck Darnet and Karine Rousseau (Franck’s Miami based partner) have succeeded in designing a comfortable yacht perfectly matching NAHEMA’s motto: perfection, performance and space.

Franck Darnet:
“The NAHEMA is unique and fascinating because there are almost no restrictions in terms of space and style. It really is a "no limit" catamaran. The design is contemporary, elegant and refined but still warm with the right equilibrium. It was very important to Karine Rousseau and I to unite the interior and exterior of the yacht in order to create a living space with an area of more than 150 m2, never seen on a 120 feet unit before. The amazing width of the sliding windows between the cockpit and the salon is the perfect expression of the NAHEMA’s design.”

For the design team “space is luxury”. They also have innovated in creating “loft style suites” in which the sleeping and bathing areas are not separated by a bulkhead but by a sliding tinted glass window. Up, the window separates the two parts for more privacy. Down, it dramatically increases the size of the room.

From a more technical point of view the modules for both hulls have been built full size on the side. When ready, they will be lifted and fitted directly into the hulls. It works just like a puzzle jigsaw. The different pieces correspond to the guests, the owners’ bedroom, the offices with their sofa, the bath rooms, the skipper and crew quarters. Walking by and inside them gives a real idea of the impressive size of the NAHEMA 120.

NAHEMA insisted on the fact that the interior decoration should be as light as possible to maximize the yacht’s performance. The walls and the furniture are made of teak sheets laminated on honeycomb panels. They are light and also respect the noise and vibration limits specified for such a high quality yacht.

Infusion of the NAHEMA 120’s first hull should start in a few days.

UBICA 40 by Ubica Disseny Nàutic

I recently ran over this motor catamaran concept the UBICA 40 by Barcelona based design team UBICA. This design team is working in very different fields such as interior and transportation (cars, equipment, motorcycles) design and is delivering very high quality 3DS as you can see in this post.
This UBICA 40 is quite an inovative design for a fast motor catamaran with many interesting features not found anywhere else.
She features a lot of confortable leaving spaces with great view on the outside and a lot of light inside. The hulls hosts confortable cabins in a very pure design with separate heads. The platform welcomes sports seats in a high glass covered bridge to enjoy the speed, sofas with a table in the fore deck and an open kitchen on the aft deck.
This unique catamaran will be powered by biodiesel honeywell multifuel turbines and and electrical turbines. Top speed should be 50 knots while medium cruising speed 29 knots and 10 knots under electricity in a quiet mode. I guess the designers wanted to combine performance while reducing the effects on the environement. If any one of you knows whether or not this unique yacht is currently being built please let me know.

MCAT 88 - BRADLEY

I don't usually write about motor catamarans because the few designs I have seen so far didn't really look great to me but this is a question of taste of course. But I do like BRADLEY, a 98 feet, built by H2X shipyard and Designed by Gilles Vaton (like the Nahema project I am currently working for).

I am very busy actually preparing of the Boat Show season starting in Septembre with Monaco so please excuse me I have just copied an paste the description of Bradley from the H2X shipyard.

"Bradley whisk along at more than 20 knots. The space inside is like a real appartment of 188 m². She has extremely comfortable sleeping accommodation for 14, and a range of more than 1000 nautical miles, cruising at 10 knots. She is perfectly suited for pleasure cruising in the Mediterranean and the Caribbean. Her refined interior design matches perfectly with the light tones of ceruse oak for the wall partitions and with the warmth of exotic wenge wood for the floor area. Her very modern exterior design simply bursts out from the lacquer evening blue and silver grey tones of her paint work. Walking around on the teak deck is a joy. This little jewel of excellence, provided with immense lateral, tainted window bays is equally a technological wonder. She is equipped with two hydro jets, which allows her to be extremely manoeuvrable. Finally, for those with a discerning palet, a stainless steel, utility kitchen allows meals to be served worthy of the finest restaurants. Advantages of the Bradley: -Expansive layout: interior/exterior and second to none, top of the market equipment (equivalent to a 34-metre super yacht). -Reducible engine power: combining moderate fuel consumption with very high level speed performance. -With a length at water-line of 24m, she is extremely manoeuvrable and needs only a minimum crew. -Shallow draught.
